Character: Unnamed

There is a quote that says:
"Character is who you are when no one is watching."

If only we could take that to heart.
So much energy is wasted by some of us trying to be what we think others want us to be. Instead,
 Be Yourself.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you like what you see?
The reflecting glass doesn't lie. But the outward appearance isn't all we are about. Look deeper. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Inside, we house the important stuff.
What we believe. How we act.

No one likes an impostor. So,
Be Yourself.

The qualities and traits that make each of us distinct individuals, set aside from others, is what makes this an interesting and fascinating world to live in. Only by being different can we make a difference.

So why do some try so hard to be like others?
Insecurity, Fear & Anxiety are just a few reasons.
Or it could be Competition, Jealousy and Deception. These are not issues that should be taken lightly; they should be addressed.
Remember, you don't need to keep up or measure up to anyone.
Life is not a comparison competition.
Hey, it takes guts to
Be Yourself.

In order to love others, we must first love ourselves; Flaws, idiosyncrasies and all. If you are comfortable with who you are, you care little about what others think. That is not to say you are inconsiderate or have less regard for others. Just devoted.
To your own beliefs.

In the words of Shakespeare:
"...to thine own self be true."

Then the layers of expectations you perceive the world holds above your head vanish.
All that energy spent creating a delusion is released.
Be Yourself.
And others will see that in you.

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind." ~ Dr. Seuss

Fading Summer

Wow. Where did the Summer go? I love summer. Lazy days at the beach, dinner on the deck, clipping in the garden & sour lemonade. Why does it have to end so soon?

Why? Because fading Summer gives way to Fall. After all, where would we be without cozy sweaters, apple picking and hayrides? Soups, pies and apple cider taste better in the Autumn.
Not to mention the enticing aromas of Roasted Turkey and Cookies during the Holidays. And although Summer's bright colors are brilliant, Fall's earth colors are majestic.

Yes. Change can be a wonderful thing.
However, most of us, by nature, are resistant to change. It scares us, threatens our comfort zone and sometimes puts us
in a state of anxiety.
Of course, it is the fear of the unknown that can throw us into a tizzy. But as we can see from the seasonal changes,
Change is for our own good.
It keeps the mind sharper, the senses vivid and the physique strong.

Try to see change as opportunity.
The opportunity to grow in wisdom.
The opportunity to lend a helping hand to others.
The opportunity to expose ourselves to new experiences.
The opportunity to improve on a skill.
The opportunity to develop relationships that otherwise would have never happened.

Try to view change as an adventure instead of a
hindering disappointment.
Then we can see how change allows us to expand our horizons.

It's a great big world out there.
Get out there and seize those opportunities.

And as the weather cools, be sure to enjoy the transition.
Before you know it, hot chocolate weather will be here and we'll be sitting around a cozy fireplace with our down comforters ;)
